Call for Proposals
Under the motto "Co-constructing bridges of meaning"
With the main idea of the Congress in mind, “Co-constructing bridges of meaning”, our aim is for it to be as active, open, participative, and diverse, as possible. We are opening the call for proposals to be presented during the Congress. The contents of the different activities should be inspired by Narrative Therapy, in any of its applications. We are asking for works based in real practice and research. How to co-construct these bridges?, what meanings are we giving to the different narratives of our consultants?, which are we giving to our own professional practices?, what possibilities is Narrative Therapy opening for the co-construction of new meanings?.

We are calling for the submission of four types of proposals: Workshops; Brief Presentations; Posters and Panel Presentations. Proposals must be received no later than April 1st, 2016, and can be sent either in Spanish or English, however the presentation at the Conference must be in English. Applicants must complete the Proposals Form before April 1st, 2016.
PROPOSALS  FORM
THE DEADLINE FOR THE SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS HAS ENDED
In case of multiple authors, at least one of them has to be registered at the Congress to be considered. Each applicant can send a maximum of two activities, both individually or in collaboration. Once received, the Conference Committee will review all proposals, and where necessary send the author suggested improvements for the activity in accordance to the Congress needs.
Features of the Proposed Activities
Posters
  • Presented in a graphic format, these can be presentations of experiences, studies and research that invite the attendees to a dialogue
  • Posters should be approximately 120 cm (high) x 90 cm (wide)
Workshops
  • Time: 90 minutes
  • Workshops should have a practical and experiential format through which the attendees can be invited to an active participation
Brief Presentations
  • Time: 15 minutes
  • Brief presentations will be presented in groups of three or four per session, facilitated by an assigned moderator and delivered to small groups
  • Where possible the presentations will be grouped together under a common theme
  • Presentations on individual, couple or family interventions, social policy, social justice, training, supervision, research and theory are welcome (limited to two speakers per presentation)
Panel Presentation
  • Teams or research groups can propose panel presentations around a particular theme with a minimum of two and maximum of four presentations
  • In the case of panel presentation proposals with under four presentations, the Conference Committee may incorporate related presentations under the same theme to complete the number of presentations
  • Panel presentations will be organised around similar themes, aimed to generate debate between presenters and dialogue with attendees
  • Each panel will consist of four brief presentations for the first hour, reserving the remainder of the time for the debate and dialogue (total: 90 minutes)
Thematic Areas Proposed
We propose, especially for the panel presentations, six overarching thematic areas. Often, it’s difficult to find the limits between them. For example, a sexual abuse case could be considered from the Individual Therapy area; but also from the Social Problem one. Our suggested thematic areas allow, however, for the Congress attendees to better organise their agendas.
  • Individual Therapy
  • Couples Therapy
  • Family and Groups
  • Gender and Identity
  • Social Issues
  • Children and Teenagers
  • Mental Health
  • Health Issues: promotion, prevention, assesment approaches in health, health disparities, etc.
  • Research Methodologies about Narrative Practice
These themes are not exclusive, we are open to suggestions for new themes based on the proposals that we receive.
